A Note from the Director
Dear Title I Families,
My name is Melissa Wilfong, and I am the Director of Title I programs in Kanawha County Schools. Please take a few moments to read over the Title I page to see all that we have to offer your children. Our Title One staff, schools, and principals look forward to serving your children during this upcoming year. We have many great plans that will continue to improve our schools, meet all of your child’s needs, and engage with families. Many of our plans involve providing high quality instruction to your children through skilled teaching, supplying your children with everything they need to master grade level standards, and planning fun Family Nights for everyone to enjoy.
On a personal note, Title I programs hold a very special place in my heart. I was a Title I student myself who grew up in a high poverty West Virginia community. Title I services supported my education, and I am forever grateful. I will work hard for the children of Kanawha County to be sure that they are equipped with the skills that they need to be successful in life. Please join together with your local school to support your child by helping them with basic skills at home, attending school events, and telling them you love them every day.
